Length A parka that covers the hips or thighs keeps you much warmer than a short jacket, especially while waiting for the bus or walking a long time.
The hood Look for an adjustable hood that stays put in the wind.
Cuffs and hem Closed or elastic cuffs and an adjustable hem keep cold air out.
Zippers A zipper with a storm flap blocks the wind. Make sure it is easy to use with gloves.
